Key Factors for Installation and Adjustment in Chinese Injection Molding Factories

Chinese injection molding factories typically begin producing plastic mold products for clients by focusing on installation and machine adjustment. So, how should we standardize this critical step in the process? Here’s a brief overview by DAYIN Plastics on the guidelines for injection mold installation and debugging:

  1. Pre-Inspection of the Mold:
    Before installing the mold on the injection molding machine, a thorough inspection is essential to detect and address potential quality issues promptly, preventing the need to dismantle the mold after installation. When inspecting the fixed and movable mold plates, pay close attention to directional markings to avoid errors during mold closing.
  2. Inclined Guide Mold Installation:
    During mold installation, two personnel should work closely together to ensure safety. If the mold has a side parting mechanism, the slider should be installed in a horizontal position, allowing the moving parts to shift left and right smoothly.
  3. Mold Fastening:
    Once the mold’s positioning ring is placed into the injection molding machine’s fixed plate positioning ring seat, the mold should be closed at a very slow speed, allowing the moving plate to gently press against the mold. Then, install the clamping plate with spacers above and below, ensuring there are four spacers on each side. When securing the clamping plate, adjust the height of the adjustment screws to align with the mold foot to keep the clamping plate level. If the clamping plate is tilted, it may not effectively secure the mold foot. Additionally, the side of the clamping plate should be positioned away from the mold to prevent friction damage.

  1. Ejector Rod Distance Adjustment:
    After securing the mold, slowly open it until the moving plate stops retreating. At this point, adjust the ejector rod position so that there is a gap of at least 5 mm between the mold’s ejector plate and the bottom plate of the moving mold. This prevents mold damage and ensures the smooth ejection of molded parts.
  2. Mold Closing Tightness Adjustment:
    To prevent flash and ensure adequate cavity venting, adjust the hydraulic injection piston—toggle clamp mechanism primarily through visual inspection and experience. During mold closing, the toggle should extend quickly at first and then slow down to ensure appropriate mold tightness. For molds requiring temperature control, adjust the mold tightness after the mold temperature has been raised.
